Meet Our Officers
President
Allie Huszcza (she/her)
Major: Materials Science Engineering
Minors: Biomedical Engineering and Green Engineering
Graduation Date: May 2025
As President, I oversee the wellbeing of the section and spread SWE's mission in the College of Engineering and beyond. I regularly communicate with company representatives to forge new relationships and secure sponsorships, as well as represent our section with national SWE correspondence, in order to provide our members with a variety of perspectives and opportunities. Furthermore, I support the entire officer board to pilot fresh ideas, optimize existing initiatives, and organize events for the general body.
Outside of SWE, I am a leader in both the Embroiderers' Guild of America and Alpha Sigma Kappa. In my free time, I love to create and learn new arts and crafts (mainly embroidery, crochet, painting, etc). I also am an avid moviegoer of all different genres and I geek over anything Marvel, Star Wars, or Nintendo. Furthermore, I love to hang out with my fellow SWEsters at events internal or external to SWE!

Vice President
Morgan Peterson (she/her)
Major: Industrial and Systems Engineering
Minor: Psychology
Graduation Date: May 2026
As Vice President, I coordinate with our company sponsors to organize events for the VT section of SWE. I am responsible for hosting all our general body meetings, professional development events, and other events hosted by SWE. I also assist our section's president and other officers as needed.
Within my major of ISE, I intend to focus on Systems Engineering and Management. Being from a Navy family, it is my goal to someday work for a Naval contractor and work on Nuclear Submarines. Outside of SWE, I am a member of my campus ministry's AV team the scholastic chair for my sorority Alpha Sigma Kappa, and a volunteer at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter.
I enjoy reading, keeping up with my favorite YouTube Channels, and binging my favorite movie series like LOTR and Star Wars. I'm a huge Jim Henson fan and love all things 80s fantasy.

Secretary
Dora Naz Erdogan (she/her)
Major: Aerospace Engineering
Graduation Date: May 2025
As Secretary, I send out the weekly newsletters keeping our members up to date about what our section is doing, community events, and various opportunities available to them. I also keep track of attendance for our general body meetings.

Outside of SWE, I am in the Orbital Launch Vehicle Team and a member of the launch operations sub-team. I am also the SEC Representative of SEDS. Outside of school, I love to try new recipes and bake for my friends. Additionally, I play volleyball either outside or at the gym whenever I can find time! I am super excited to be a part of SWE and please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Treasurer
Katherine Tyler (she/her)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Graduation Date: May 2025
As Treasurer I am responsible for the collection, distribution, and safekeeping of the section's funds. I also prepare and maintain financial reports, as well as file taxes on behalf of the section. I hope to increase transparency of the section's funds to enable new ideas and increase the impact of our organization.
I am a junior in Mechanical Engineering. Outside of SWE, I am part of Hokie Ambassadors and do undergraduate research. I also enjoy crocheting, hiking and swimming. Feel free to reach out!

Social Committee Chair
Zahra Alam (she/her)
Major: Chemical Engineering

As Social Committee Chair, I'm in charge of organizing and hosting social events for SWE at VT. My goal is to grow SWE relationships by holding social events that can give members the opportunity to connect over shared interests and fun experiences. I am excited to create spaces where members can feel included, safe, and cared for!

Outside of SWE, I am a part of Alpha Omega Epsilon, the Collegiate Times, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and I’m currently a mentor for Hypatia. In my free time I love to do arts and crafts (currently on a crochet kick), watch a lot of TV (mostly sitcoms), and try new food/drinks! I love to meet new people so please don’t hesitate to reach out!

Community Outreach Chair
Anika Mukul (she/her)
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Minor: Computer Science
Graduation Date: May 2026
As Community Outreach Chair, it is my responsibility to plan and host events that connect SWE members with the greater Blacksburg community. Through these events, we hope to be able to give back to the community that unwaveringly supports us as we pursue our educational and professional ambitions while at Virginia Tech. All SWE events are volunteer-based and seek to assist current standing organizations and charities in and around Blacksburg. In the past, we have worked with the VT Women's Center, the NRV Juvenile Detention Home, and the Roanoke Rescue Mission. I am also responsible for coordinating SWE's involvement in events such as Gobblerfest, O-Show, Women's Preview Weekend, and The Big Event!
Outside of SWE, I am involved in organizations including the Undergraduate Biomedical Engineering Society and Vilasana at VT. I am also involved in Compress & Shock as a CPR Trainer and I am a UGA for the Engineering Education department. My academic interests include cell/tissue engineering, computational biology, oncoengineering, and immunology. In my free time, I enjoy crocheting, reading, baking, and going on coffee runs!

Educational Outreach Chair
Amanda Audette (she/her)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Graduation Date: May 2025
As the Educational Outreach Committee chair, I work with K-12 schools, scouting troops, and other educational programs across the New River Valley area and beyond to promote women in STEM and engineering! My role consists of planning these outreach events, being a liaison between K-12 program leaders and SWE, and ensuring our events run smoothly while providing an enriching experience for the young women.
Outside of SWE, I am a member of the HEVT design team. I also enjoy reading, driving, and drinking coffee. Feel free to contact me with any questions or just to talk.

Leilani Lee (she/her)

As Publicity Chair, I'm in charge of managing our SWE social media presence and showcasing our fantastic events! One of my goals is to continue to expand the content that our SWE members get from our social platforms, and I want to continue showing others all that we do. SEC Chair
Katie Murnane (she/her)

As Student Engineers Council (SEC) Representative, I am the point of contact between SWE and SEC. I attend SEC meetings and report back to SWE executives and members. I apply for SEC funding to help put on different SWE events throughout the year. I also facilitate SWE involvement in E-week.
Outside of SWE, I am also involved in IISE and I’m a CEED peer mentor. I love traveling, going to the gym, cooking, and hanging out with friends. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Evening with the Industries Chair
Megan Gulian (she/her)
Major: Biomedical Engineering
Minors: Psychology and Animal and Poultry Sciences
Graduate Student
As the Evening With the Industries Chair for SWE, I am responsible for planning and executing SWE's Evening With the Industries dinner. This events takes place the week before the CAMEO career fest and acts as a networking opportunity for company representatives and SWE/CAMEO members. I'm super excited to be able to plan this opportunity for our members!
Outside of SWE, I am a member of the VT Club Tennis team, volunteer at VT's equine centers, and a part of the Alpha Omega Epsilon sorority. I am also a master's student in the Orthopedic Mechanobiology Lab, where I will be completing my thesis on investigating the effects of histotripsy for osteosarcoma treatments and how it impacts surrounding tendon structure and performance. In my free time, I love going to the gym, hiking, and watching TV! I love being a part of SWE and feel free to reach out at any time!

CAMEO Representative
Madison Jackson (she/her)
Major: Mechanical Engineering
Graduation date: May 2026
As the CAMEO Representative, I am responsible for assisting in planning the CAMEO Careerfest, as well as organizing collaboration events with fellow CAMEO organizations. CAMEO stands for the Council for the Advancement of Minority Engineering Organizations, a larger organization that brings diverse engineering organizations together to foster camaraderie amongst minorities in engineering.
I aspire to utilize my engineering degree within the rail industry to make more efficient, safer freight rail transportation. I enjoy reading, spending time with friends and family, playing with my dogs, and watching trains in my free time.

Conference Chair
Gracie Piscitelli
Major: Industrial and Systems Engineering
Minor: Finance
Graduation Date: May 2026
As conference chair, I oversee the planning and recruitment of Virginia Tech’s SWE members for the national Women in engineering conference in Chicago, Illinois. More specifically my role includes, booking hotels, going through applications, and coordinating travel plans for 36 members!
Outside of SWE, I am a TA for Foundations of Engineering 1215, and I currently am working in government contracting. I enjoy traveling, spending time with friends and family, shopping, and watching any show on HGTV!

Graduate Liaison
Anushya Iyer
Major: Computer Engineering
Graduate Student
As graduate liaison, I am responsible for growing and fostering a community for graduate SWE members. I also work with other CEED organizations to create larger events, both social and professional, that are catered towards graduate students.
Outside of SWE, I love to bake and frequently bring sweet treats to social events. I also love watching TV and movies (the worse the better), crocheting, and spending time with my friends and family.
